Usually open 2nd and 4th Sunday each month (see Museum Calendar for all dates of opening).

10:00 to 16:00 (10 am to 4 pm)
Train times:
10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30 and 15:15
Buy tickets online (see below), select the train/tram ride you want -- it is identified on your ticket(s) by the Train Number and Departure Time. Please ensure you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the specified departure time of your train.
We recommend you allow a minimum of 1.5 hours, to gain maximum value for your visit.

** Holders of Student card (students over 17), Senior's card, Pensioner concession or Companion card. Card must be shown on request otherwise adult price will apply.

An annual pass is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
Group visits
Mid Week Visits and Special Openings outside our usual open days can be arranged.
Advance notice of at least 4-6 weeks is required to allow Museum volunteer resources to be available.

Some exhibits are accessible only by stairs.
Steam train rides are only accessible via stairs.
Dogs and other pets are not permitted on the NSW Rail Museum grounds or on our heritage train rides. Accredited assistance dogs are excepted.

Online ticket sales
Book in advance in order to secure your preferred ride time. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes before your historic train ride in the Valley Heights depot area.
Online ticket sales close 19:00 the night before the open day. Tickets may be available at the door subject to demand.
